ABOUT THE EDUCATOR
Shaneia Caldwell is the Creative Director of My Party Queen , Managing Director of MPQ Studio and Founder of Designers of Detroit, which provides resources for Event Decorators and Designers.
Shaneia has a MFA in Fashion and Multimedia Communications with over 10 years of marketing experience.
She partnered with her mom to start My Party Queen when they both had full-time jobs. Like most event planning and design companies, My Party Queen started out as a hobby. Shaneia nor her mother were prepared for the business that it had quickly become.
By the second year, the company doubled their revenue and by the third year their revenue had tripled. The company’s success did not come without trial and tribulations.
Starting out they didn’t know how to charge for a design service, how to connect with certain vendors or even how to get ideal clients. After being booked, busy and losing money, their questions were eventually answered. Shaneia created MPQ Academy to help other event planning and designers prevent the pitfalls that she made.
